| Weddings at The Pule Estate, Dolenjska |
|
The Pule Estate (Posestvo Pule) sits in a remote meadow in the middle of the hilly Dolenjska countryside, far from just about everything. All around there are old beech woods stretching into the lazy, hazy distance, while the panorama of mountains still further away provides a perfect backdrop.
The Pule Estate is quite simply divine: the staff exemplify perfection, making you feel as comfortable as could be. The dining is equally wonderful - breakfasts under the huge blue sky are of the 'champions' variety (nice to be able to see the hives where the honey was made... from your breakfast table), while the dining during the rest of the day is truly exceptional. Walking back to your apartment down the ground-lit path under the immense starry sky is an experience you will not easily forget.
The five chalets are built with traditional local materials... plus oodles of glass. The view from the lounge is through a huge window, with a lovely open firplace in the middle. They're filled with some very beautiful furniture - much of which is either authentically original, or specially commissioned - plus flat TVs and all that modern stuff. Each chalet has a terrace, with sun loungers and seating.

An important feature of the estate are the stables, which house five Lipizzaner horses - available for you to ride during your stay. Indeed, there are spare stables if you should want to take your horsey to your wedding.
The original barn, which houses the stables, also houses the restaurant. There are barred windows between the two, so riders and ridees can stare at each other while munching on their preferred cuisines.
The other side of the restaurant is all glass, and affords wonderful views across the meadow outside. |

| Your wedding at Posestvo Pule |
A red carpet will be laid from the main gate to the reception area, to ensure that your guests begin their day by feeling a little bit special. During the warmer months, drinks and canapes will be served under eves of the restaurant, inviting the attendees to loosen up a little(!). Of course, you will be relaxed and chilling in your chalet suite, in full control of your emotions and ready to take charge of the rest of your life. At the appointed hour, all will gather under the shade of the old walnut tree, where the ceremony will take place. You must tell your friends and family that they should listen closely to the interpreter, as Slovenian wedding vows are particularly moving... and practical.
Following the ceremony, sparkling wine and snackettes will be served, flowers will be thrown, pictures taken and congratulations given, all atop the Pule Estate hill, giving fabulous views across the forested countryside of Dolenjska.
There will then be a short interlude, while you two especially gather yourselves (and maybe have a little lie down)... until the wedding banquet is served. Following that and the speeches and toasts... it's dancing into the night.

The cuisine and banquet |
The restaurant (Pod Skednjem) is in the main building and seats up to sixty people. The outer wall is fitted with glass doors, which can be completely opened during the warmer months.
The head chef, Jure Kapelar, has cooked in many restaurants abroad, including the Savoy, Claridges and the Connaught. His aim is to use modern techniques and fresh, local produce to enliven local traditional dishes. His other aim is to eventually make Pod Skednjem Slovenia's best restaurant, and we have no reason to doubt him.
Just outside the restaurant and down some steps is a specially-built wine cellar, stocked with most of Slovenia's very best wines. We strongly recommend that you, er, take full advantage of its proximity.
Of course, we will work closely together with you and Jure to ensure that you have the wedding banquet of your dreams. |

For your guests |
Accommodation
Being a rather exclusive estate, there are just eighteen places for you and your closest friends and family at Posestvo Pule. The accommodation is of course sumptuous - from the glass-fronted chalets to the marbled bathrooms and fine linen upon your bed.
However, we have some very nice alternative accommodation in Dolenjska, including a lovely, idyllic tourist farm (Šeruga), a spa (Vitarium) and a castle (Otočec) - all of which should provide suitable lodgings for one and all. As a part of your wedding plans, we will arrange transport between them all, so no one will get lost, or miss the best bits! |
Activities
Far and away the two most popular pastimes are hiking and biking: the gently rolling hills lend themselves to just about enough strenuousness for you not to break anything. The scenery is so vibrant and so... green, while the quietness is sometimes only broken by the squeal of an eagle, riding the thermals high above.
We can also arrange a spot of kayaking or canoeing or even fishing on the Krka river.
There are some excellent cultural sites worth visiting
- The Pleterje monastery hides all its monks, but sells some pretty potent spirits and ice wines
- There are a number of castles around, including Otočec, Mokrice and Brežice
- Probably the most under-sold and probably the best modern art gallery in the country, Kostanjevice
- We can also arrange guided tours of the region, for groups of over ten
Indeed, we can arrange all manner of entertainments for you and your guests... |
