Weddings at Nebesa and Hiša Franko

If you want a mixture of boutique style and world-class cuisine, then it's Nebesa and Hiša Franko for you.

Nebesa is the dinkiest hotel ever, comprising just four glass-fronted chalets, almost a thousand metres above the Soča Valley. Apart from the chalets, there is a larger two storey building (built into the side of the hill, so it looks like one), where there is a beautifully furnished common dining room with a big kitchen, a fitness room and another housing a small heated pool and a jacuzzi. Often, while sitting on your terrace, you can see representatives of the local deer community, grazing near the perimeter fence.

The owners and hosts of Nebesa also had the good sense to have a daughter, Ana, who owns and runs Hiša Franko. In the few years that she and her partner Valter have been there, they have turned the hotel's restaurant into one of the best in the country - and we think, one of the best in Europe. The hotel itself has just ten individually designed rooms, making the whole a delight for body and soul.

We have arranged special rates with Nebesa and Hiša Franko, so that you can visit for a couple of nights and see for yourself what a beautiful place the Soča Valley is.

It would also be a perfect opportunity for you to meet Ana and discuss your menu requirements.

Your wedding at Nebesa and/or Hiša Franko

A wedding at NebesaIndeed, if you would like the dinkiest wedding ever, and only want to invite up to three couples, then Nebesa would be the closest thing to heaven (actually, it means 'heaven' in Slovene). Your ceremony will take place with one of the world's most breath-taking backdrops behind you - not only will you be on Cloud Nine... you might well be above it.

We can arrange for the owner's daughter, Ana Roš - one of Slovenia's finest chefs - to come and cook the most exclusive meal of your life...

Then again, if your entourage is any larger, we will arrange the wedding at Ana's own hotel down in Kobarid: Hiša Franko. Ana and Valter will weave their particular magic and make you the wedding banquet of your dreams.

  • Ceremony - Small (or 'dinky') weddings can be held at Nebesa, larger ones at Hiša Franko, or at the local register office in Kobarid.
  • Blessing - If you would like a religious blessing we can arrange that at the local church.
  • Music - A violinist or accordianist before and after the ceremony... and a band or DJ for the evening, of course.
  • Flowers - anything from fresh local flowers, picked that day, to beautiful arrangements by Slovenia's best florist.

The cusine and banquet

Cuisine at Hiša FrankoAs has been mentioned here, and in various other pages on this website, Ana Roš is one of the best chefs in the country. Entirely self-taught, she has developed a style all of her own, which will go some way towards her receiving her first Michelin star (much overdue - as are a few others in Slovenia - as far as we're concerned). The fact that official recognition from the men from the tyre company has not been forthcoming, is only to your advantage... because this standard of cuisine at these prices is a steal.

We will work with you and Ana to make the wedding banquet you never dreamed of... but you can start now.

For your wedding guests

The Hvala Hotel, KobaridAccommodation

If there are more than twenty-eight of you (eight at Nebesa, twenty at Hiša Franko), fear not, we have plenty of options in the vicinity. The most obvious is the Hvala Hotel, owned and run by the Hvala family (a word you'll need during your stay, it means "thank you"). Situated right in the middle of Kobarid between the other two hotels, it would make the perfect base during the celebrations - as it does to our customers on holiday, of course. There are about sixty beds in various shaped rooms, which should be enough for most wedding parties... although we have even more alternatives close by, just in case you're seriously popular!

Activities

Don't even ask...How can we possibly list the fun that can be had in the Soča Valley? OK - here goes:

  • White water rafting
  • Kayaking
  • Hydrospeed
  • Canyoning
  • Fly-fishing
  • Paragliding
  • Climbing
  • Trekking
  • Horse riding
  • Biking
  • Ambling
  • Kobarid Museum
  • Source of the Soča
  • Vršič Pass
  • Car train to Bohinj
  • Alpinum Juliana
  • Kluže Fortress
  • Predil
  • Enough... ?

Suffice to say that it is probably the most exhilerating valley in Europe. We can pre-arrange any number of activities or equipment hire - whatever makes you and your guests happy.

All you have to do is ask.
