If you want a mixture of boutique style and world-class cuisine, then it's Nebesa and Hiša Franko for you.
Nebesa is the dinkiest hotel ever, comprising just four glass-fronted chalets, almost a thousand metres above the Soča Valley. Apart from the chalets, there is a larger two storey building (built into the side of the hill, so it looks like one), where there is a beautifully furnished common dining room with a big kitchen, a fitness room and another housing a small heated pool and a jacuzzi. Often, while sitting on your terrace, you can see representatives of the local deer community, grazing near the perimeter fence.
The owners and hosts of Nebesa also had the good sense to have a daughter, Ana, who owns and runs Hiša Franko. In the few years that she and her partner Valter have been there, they have turned the hotel's restaurant into one of the best in the country - and we think, one of the best in Europe. The hotel itself has just ten individually designed rooms, making the whole a delight for body and soul. |
