Honeymoons

As I mentioned elsewhere on this website, the original concept for Slovene Dream, was all about weddings... but we figured that we needed to spend some time working on Slovenia as a holiday destination first.

During that time, we have booked many, many honeymoons - the place just seems to lend itself to being the ideal honeymoon destination.

Perhaps it's something to do with the eye-watering scenery, the charming people, the world-class cuisine, the award-winning wines, the glorious weather, the beautiful hotels.

Something like that.

Perfect honeymoon hotels

Note: all of these links will open a new window on the Slovene Dream website.

The Sun HouseSončna Hiša
The Sun House: a beautifully designed boutique hotel in the north eastern region of Prlekija. There are just five suites, each of which is individually designed. There is an excellent sauna and whirlpool available, and you can order a relaxing massage afterwards. There are some very fine restaurants nearby and some very good wineries, where we can arrange tastings for you.

NebesaNebesa
"Heaven" in English, and well-named, too. Four glass-fronted chalets sitting about nine hundred metres above the Soča Valley: your head may well be in the clouds following your wedding... so you may as well stay there. The breakfast arrangements are perfect for a newly-married couple - there's a full fridge in a little kitchen, so that you can make your own eggy soldiers or whatever.

OtočecOtočec
After your fairy-tale wedding, why not a fairy-tale honeymoon? The castle sits on a little island in the middle of the Krka river. The rooms are very elegant, while the specially commissioned wooden furniture just begs to be stroked. Honest. After breakfast/lunch/dinner in the very fine restaurant, take a quiet walk around the island gardens and maybe chat with a swan or two.
Kendov DvorecKendov Dvorec
Another transformed building - this time an old farm manor house in the Idrijan hills. Beautifully restored and filled with authentic local antique furniture and Idrijan lace, the Kenda Manor is both elegant and wonderfully relaxed. The kitchen is the 'home' of one of Slovenia's great chefs, while the hotel and dining room are presided over by the fabulous Bogdan Tončič - who will see to your every need.
AngelAngel Hotel
Since it opened in 2009, the Angel has established itself as one of Ljubljana's best hotels. As soon as you entire the entrance corridor, you know you are in the hands of experts: the cool, yet elegant interior, the muted colours and kitsch-less ambience immediately make you feel relaxed and cared-for. The Angel is perfectly placed to give you access to the best of the city, being on the edge of the old town. Of course.
Vila BledVila Bled
Far and away the best and most luxurious hotel in Bled, Vila Bled overlooks the 'right' end of the lake (away from the bustle at the other end) from the crest of its landscaped gardens. Partly designed by one of Slovenia's favourite sons, Plečnik, it is an architectural monument to a different world, when Yugoslavia was a part of the non-aligned group of countires, when Tito used it as a residence to entertain foreign dignitaries. Great dining, too.
BelicaBelica
An Italian villa-style buildiing, sitting in its own vineyard (the label has established itself as one of the best in recent years), Belica is a pretty little place with all you'll need for a relaxed, wine-softened, sun-kissed honeymoon. The restaurant features heavily Italian-influenced dishes... and some of the best pršut and salamis we've ever eaten. Oh, and rarer than hen's teeth in Slovenia: a swimming pool.
Of course, we do have, um, one or two more hotels in our portfolio at Slovene Dream. But please take note: only the best.
