Because it's stylish, exuberant, beautiful and romantic; the people know how to have a jolly good time, and they know how to give you a jolly good time; it's close enough to get to, yet far enough away to be faintly exotic; it's a mixed-up place: mountains, plains, karst and coast - Italian, Hungarian and Austrian influences - four whole seasons... all of which comes at a price.
Almost any time of the year is do-able - we've held weddings in the snow in Bohinj - but consider that July and August are full of tourists (but we can always find somewhere where they're not!). Also, you should be aware that the more esoteric venues are much sought-after, so you should make your plans and book as early as possible.
Although much of the population is catholic (or lapsed), Slovenia is a secular country, which means that only civil ceremonies are officially recognised. You can of course also have a church blessing... and being a catholic country, the churches are rather more lovely than the dour protestant ones in the UK.
What a load of tosh - and the Slovenian Tourist Board should be ashamed of adopting it as some kind of daft motto. I mean, come on - does this mean that you shouldn't get married in Spain because... ?
